Activities, engagement, and events help shape a complete experience on campus. UHart Hub is the portal for our student community to discover things to do, groups to join, and how to get involved.

Members of .JPEG will gain design, presentation, craft and collaborative design experience through self-directed projects, workshops, group critiques, and fundraisers/sales.

Why you should join this organization?
Self-directed projects are aimed to help members think critically and intentionally when pitching a project, idea, or proposal. Workshops are aimed to help members teach, learn from others, and gain research skills to further each other's professional experience in the field. Group critiques give artists important feedback on their work; they allow the presenter to make edits and changes to work that can be further improved upon, as well as receive opinions and ideas from a collective group of creatives. 

If you are interested in the field of acoustics, check out ASA! No matter your focus, this is the perfect place to develop and share your knowledge. The club prides itself on its diversity of interests, ability to get input from professionals, and spreading of knowledge. AND along with the audio to hear, there’s free food to eat!

Why you should join this organization?

ASA serves to generate, disseminate, and promote the knowledge and practical applications of acoustics. Our local chapter meets around twice a month for industry presentations across an array of disciplines such as architectural acoustics, electroacoustics, psychoacoustics, and vibrations. We also take trips to concert halls, instrument factories, and other big-name companies.

Aerie is the annual literacy magazine published by students for students. We accept poetry, prose, dramas, creative non-fiction, art, and especially anything experimental and non-traditional!

Aerie seeks to foster and promote student creativity on the University of Hartford campus by accepting artistic pieces of various genres and publishing them in an annual publication. A club for students interested in anything aerospace to connect, collaborate, and create with other aerospace enthusiasts.

The American Institute of Architecture Student (AIAS) is an independent, nonprofit, student-run organization dedicated to advancing leadership, design and service among architecture students." Our chapter's mission is to connect students here at the University with professionals in the field, whether they be local, or on the national level, and involving them in the community.

Why you should join this organization?
We attend two conferences every year- one national, and one regional- and participate in several visits to other universities in the area to connect with their chapters. We host fundraisers throughout the year on campus and we do our best to reach out to the university's community as a whole, rather than just focusing on solely architecture majors.

The University of Hartford's chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers aims to develop young civil engineers and prepare them for the professional world by having networking events and introducing them to professionals in the field.

We also look to help our members explore different branches of civil engineering by showing them different career opportunities. Our most important events we participate in are the AISC National Steel Bridge Competition, The Concrete Canoe Competition, and professional meet and greets.

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers is a professional organization enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment, and skills development across all engineering disciplines.

Why you should join this organization?
We utilize connections both within academia and in the industry to obtain factory tours of local companies such as Kamatics, Pratt & Whitney, etc. as well as have speakers present the amazing projects they work on as professional engineers. In addition to this, we participate in a yearly national engineering competition that puts everything you learn in the classroom to the test.

We are an enthusiastic and dedicated team of undergraduate students from a variety of academic disciplines united by a common passion for rocketry. Our team collaborates to design, build, and test high-power rocket motors. Our primary goal is to compete in the prestigious Spaceport America Cup Intercollegiate Rocketry Competition, an event that brings together the brightest young minds in aerospace from around the world.

Our rocketry team is committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in amateur rocketry. We focus on every aspect of rocket development, including propulsion, aerodynamics, avionics, and payload integration. The purpose of the Biomedical Engineering Society at the University of Hartford is to expose students that are majoring/minoring in Biomedical Engineering to the various sub-fields of engineering that will be available to them in this field after college.

The purpose of the Chemistry Club (Chem Club) is to create a friendly and educational environment outside of classroom that promotes interest in the field of chemistry for all students. We will host a variety of fun and engaging events throughout that both majors and non-majors will enjoy.

The Construction Institute (CI) works with the University’s student chapter to create meaningful opportunities for students to learn from the Institute's members, through internships, lectures, and career preparation activities.

The purpose of the Criminal Justice Club is to spark an interest in criminal justice and educate members more about this system through in person experiences such as guest speakers. The club participates in volunteer opportunities to better the community. We host events such as movie nights and murder mystery solving.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. DECA is open to all students of all majors!

The mission of the Dirty for a Reason Club is to merge the University and the community through the ceramic’s arts. The Dirty for a Reason Club events give the opportunity to non-ceramic majors at the University and in the community to experience all aspects of the ceramic arts, the making, firing and glazing of their own pieces. These clay parties also give ceramic majors the opportunity to experience teaching and for others to be taught by them.

The Dirty for a Reason Club also gives back to the community and students through donations to charities, the annual Empty Bowls, and through fundraising for the member’s annual trip to the NECECA Conference where they learn further about the ceramics arts.

The mission of the EWB Club is to give students the opportunity to design and implement sustainable engineering projects which benefit developing communities and countries.

The Green 707 Club is a club seeking to design and build an electric vehicle converted from a gasoline-run vehicle and also later modify for entrance into an electric vehicle drag race. We aim to promote critical thinking, teamwork, and further knowledge in the topic of electrical vehicles and their impact on a sustainable world.

The Innovators Group (IG) is a student-led group open to all UHart students. Barney faculty oversee the club, and we pull from the strengths of each school and college to pursue our mission - to bring good ideas to the market.

The club represents a safe place for entrepreneurs to bring their ideas and obtain feedback from their peers, mentors, and faculty; the club represents a place where ideas and teams can evolve. Further, we are able to connect the club members with our alumni network and various investor networks so that good ideas become commercialized and taken to the next level. Ideas can emerge from the student body, from the faculty, or from the local community. We seek to develop our local entrepreneurial ecosystem that translates into individual empowerment.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a leading global organization that consists of both professionals and current students. This well-established group of individuals strives to advance technology for the betterment of humanity, and spans across many fields of study. With renewable energy, electric cars, artificial intelligence becoming the global topics of intense interest in the scientific and engineering world, IEEE has become more important than it ever was. The IEEE student chapter/club offers opportunities for internships, real-world experience, school funded research projects, and panel discussions with corporate leaders and recent alumni. Along with major events,  members of the club also have monthly gatherings to work on projects and other group activities. Members don’t have to be electrical or computer engineering majors and can be any CETA major to participate.

MAPS is an organization representing minority students that are interested in the healthcare field. MAPS is intended to provide individuals with resources, skills, and guidance that will help them in their endeavors in the medical field.

Why you should join this organization?
This organization aims to provide its members with volunteer experiences and/or shadowing, as well as other opportunities that will serve as first-hand experiences in a related field. In addition, MAPS will also have cultural-related activities where members will be able to share their culture and their experiences as a minority.

The mission of the NAFME Club is to make opportunities for professional development available to members. This includes acquainting students with the privileges and responsibilities of the music education profession and providing opportunities for members to learn about leaders in the music education profession through participation in chapter, district, state, division and national conferences.

Assist the school in various projects throughout the year. Provide opportunities to contact MENC student members of other schools. Provide an atmosphere of learning in the activities of the organization.

NOMAS represents and empowers underrepresented minority architecture students in the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA).

The National Society of Black Engineers, as a national student and professional based organization, does hereby dedicate itself to the development of intensive programs for increasing Black and other ethnic minority participation in the field of engineering and engineering technology.

This organization will endeavor to provide general counseling to all members and to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

Off-Hollywood provides a space for all students from all backgrounds to view a wide range of films and to engage in discussions of films and their genres in a casual open space.

Our purpose is to bring multiple perspectives and outlooks to different types of film, and to explore and encourage discussions around social, political, cultural, and representational issues and topics in film.

UHart's oSTEM chapter will serve as a way to discuss inclusion and allyship within the university as well as in professional fields. It will also provide a place for members to make professional connections and learn about aspects of job searching and office environments that can be especially challenging for LGBTQ+ people.

The purpose of the University of Hartford Physical Therapy Student Association (hereafter known as the Association) is to enhance the professional growth of all students by taking part in local and national activities in the Connecticut Physical Therapy Association and the American Physical Therapy Association student chapters.

The University of Hartford Formula SAE Team is a group of highly dedicated individuals who spend a significant amount of time during their school year designing, building, and ultimately racing a Formula SAE racecar. Every year in May, a new racecar takes part in an international competition sanctioned by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE International).

The FSAE team continues to grow this year, meaning the members are more competitive and ambitious than ever before. For the 2019 season, the car’s suspension has completely been redesigned and improved. The team is planning to work on the following: Revised rear suspension, New spindles, Preliminary Revo Package.

The French Club is dedicated to bringing about a greater appreciation for the French language and French culture. To this end, the main mission of the club is to aid students in their learning of French, as well as to provide an environment for them to enjoy all things French. No prior knowledge of French is needed and native French speakers are encouraged to join.

The Trading Card Guild aims to provide a place where members will be able to socialize, play and trade in a wide variety of trading card games safely among members of the club.

The University of Hartford Pre-Law Club seeks to assist students who are considering a career in the legal field. It is the goal of the organization to provide all members with knowledge on law school admissions, exposure to various careers in the legal field, advice for applying to law schools, and comprehensive LSAT (Law School Admission Test) preparation. Additionally, this club will offer group study sessions, guest speaker events, and movie screenings. Community engagement is especially emphasized to promote communication and intellectual discussion.

Biomedical Engineering Society

The Biomedical Engineering Society strives to explore how engineering and healthcare go hand-in-hand, as well as provide networking events and job/internship opportunities.

Hartford Racing Formula SAE

Students from the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture headed to the Michigan International Speedway, bringing a formula-style race car they designed and built themselves. In May, 17 students from UHart’s branch of the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) made an annual trek to Michigan International Speedway, bringing a formula-style race car they designed and built themselves. The students—freshmen through seniors, from half a dozen majors—pitted their engineering skills against teams from around the world.
